Indian Censors Delete Lesbian Sex Scene Between Charlize Theron, Sofia Boutella From 'Atomic Blonde'

Unsurprising.

Ahead of the Indian release of David Leitch's sensual thriller, Atomic Blonde, the Censor Board has once again risen to the occasion to play spoilsport. And this time around, it's a passionate lovemaking scene between two women that has offended the sanskaari board.

According to a report in The Quint, Pahlaj Nihalani has ordered cuts in scenes that feature Charlize Theron's character kissing and having sex with another character, played by Sofia Boutella.

The report says there isn't any explanation given for the said cuts.

The directive given to the producer reads, "Delete the visual of the hand touching the bare breast in bed of two ladies, and delete the entire love-making (having sex)."

An erotic thriller, Atomic Blonde opened to positive reviews around the world and currently holds a 76 per cent 'Fresh' rating on review aggregator, Rotten Tomatoes.

Indian viewers, like is the norm now, will probably have to wait for the film to have its online premiere on one of the OTP platforms, to enjoy the film in its entirety as other than the lovemaking sequence, a lot of other shots involving nudity have also been taken out.

When The Quint asked Nihalani that we've had instances of lesbian lovemaking in Bollywood (Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das in Fire), the controversial Censor Board chief shot back saying, "You must ask why it was passed by whoever was in my place back then."

Thank God we didn't have him as Censor Chief back in the day.

Here's the uncensored trailer of Atomic Blonde:
