A man from Sangli in Maharashtra was arrested by the police on his wedding day on the charge of raping a woman.
According to a report in the Times of India, Dashrath Khot had returned home after the completion of some morning rituals related to his wedding ceremony, when the police knocked on his door.
The 28-year-old lab technician who works for a village dairy was arrested on the charge of raping a daily wage labourer on a number of occasions.
In her complaint, the rape survivor said that Khot first raped her in November 2016 when she was alone at home and had threatened her into keeping quiet about the incident. He raped her again a few days before his wedding, which is when she told her parents and lodged a complaint with the police.
