A 21-year-old visually-impaired student from Gujarat has fulfilled her dream of walking in the hallways of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad.
Not only did she get into IIM Ahmedabad, she reportedly also received calls from IIM Bangalore and IIM Kolkata.
Sukhwani, who started losing her eyesight when she was in Class III because of a genetic disorder, told TOI:
"My short term goal is to join a company, preferably a multinational. Once I get some experience, I will have my own start-up. But my long term goal is to open an NGO for the blind."
Sukhwani's father runs a garment business. He said that he had been taking his daughter to visit eye specialists in Chennai for the last 15 years, but her disorder is considered untreatable.
"She had been advised to wear special reading glasses by the doctors," he added. "But she is so engrossed in studies that she finds even those glasses to be an obstacle for her."
Sukhwani is currently busy with the last semester of her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree and is also basking in the glow of congratulatory notes from friends, family and well-wishers.
