The Mumbai Police may close the case against The Viral Fever (TVF) CEO Arunabh Kumar despite a series of molestation accusations against him because the victims have refused to come forward.

According to a report in India Today, no victim has come forward since the case was lodged 10 days ago.

Police sources have reportedly told India Todaythat the probe will be closed by this week as no FIR has been filed yet by the alleged victims.

"Social media posts are not enough for us to lodge a First Information Report. However, if any complainant wishes to come forward and file one with the police, they are free to do so," Senior Inspector Sailesh Pasalvar of Mumbai's MIDC Police Station told The Quint.

Three days ago, advocate Rizwan Siddiqui, who had filed the third-person first information report, had urged the women to come forward in a Facebook post.

"Please remember that keeping silent may only give more strength to people who blatantly indulge in sexual assaults as they know that the victim will NEVER come forward to ever complain," he wrote.

Siddiqui had urged the police thrice to file an FIR against Kumar.

The police has also said that they are not sure if the writer of the blog on Medium, that first accused Kumar of sexual harassment, actually exists.

However, the Mumbai police has said that if a victim comes forward even at this stage, an FIR will be filed immediately.

Earlier this month, after the Medium blog was published, around 50 women had come forward on social media and complained against Kumar. However, none of them filed a compliant with the cops.
