Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has reportedly hinted in an interview with BBC Hindi the possibility of an alliance with the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP).

According to the audio posted by the BBC, he repeatedly stresses he is confident of winning the majority with Congress. While he didn't outrightly admit he was open to an alliance with the BSP, he said "no one would want to see President's rule in the state, or for the BJP to run the state remotely."
