Vivo Launches V5 Plus With Dual Selfie Cameras At ₹27,890

Vivo continues to concentrate on front camera as a selling point.

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo launched Vivo V5 Plus with dual front cameras today at an event India. The phone is a higher end cousin of Vivo V5 which was launched in India in November.

The smartphone's most noticeable feature is, of course, dual front camera pair of 20 MP and 8 MP. The second lens is used for capturing the depth of field. The phone has a 5.5-inch full HD display with 2.5D glass design. It is powered by Qualcomm 625 SoC at 2.0 GHz with 4 GB of RAM.

The rear camera of the phone is 16 MP. A rare occurrence where the selfie sensor is more powerful on the paper than the main camera.

The company has introduced a bunch of software features for the camera such as the face beauty mode and shot refocus which is to create a 'Bokeh' kind of effect. There is a feature called 'moonlight glow' which is a warm selfie flash through the screen.

Vivo V5 Plus has a battery of 3160 mAh which is decent for today's phone. The phone uses Android Marshmallow 6.0 with FunTouch OS 3.0 customization.

The smartphone has 64 GB of internal memory with an option to expand it to 256 GB through the SD card. At the launch only Gold color is available. Vivo will start the pre-booking for the phone from 24 January.

The price point is tough sell given that it'd be battling with giants such as OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T and Moto Z play which are fantastic and proven smartphones.
