A sixteen-year-old in Gujarat was kidnapped by eight men, imprisoned in a pit and raped for over a month.

The teenager is from Kotda Nayani village and this heinous act is suspected to be a fallout of a feud between two families of the Devipujak community, The Times of Indiareported today. She was freed on 13 December by Mahesh Jayanti on whose farm the pit was dug.

For more than a month, the girl was forced to sit in the pit, which was covered with wood and cement. One side of the pit was kept open for her to breathe. Jayanti, TOI reported, would take her out in the night and rape her.

The eight men have been arrested for abduction, rape and illegal detention, the newspaper reported.
