A day after HuffPost Indiapublished an exclusive report on the mysterious disappearance of a red corner notice against one of the accused men in the AgustaWestland chopper scam, 64-year-old middleman Guido Haschke, the Congress has accused the Modi government of helping the criminal.
"The Modi government's investigation into the AugustaWestland is dubious and suspicious," Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told HuffPost India.
Surjewala said that it was the Congress government which had introduced an integrity clause and ordered a CBI inquiry at the hint of a wrongdoing, blacklisting the company.

"On the contrary, the Modi government undid the blacklisting and allowed the company to participate in defence deals," he said, adding that it is "surprising" that the red corner notice issued against Guido Haschke after he was convicted by a court has now been withdrawn.
He said that the CBI or the Enforcement Directorate had to have written to the Interpol asking for the notice against Haschke to be removed.
"Why is the Modi government helping an accused?" said Surjewala. "The responsibility lies with the PM and government to explain."
