NEW DELHI -- Union minister for external affairs Sushma Swaraj has been admitted in AIIMS hospital in Delhi for kidney failure. The 64-year-old politician has been put on dialysis and tweeted that she was undergoing tests for a kidney transplant.

"Her condition is stable. Her history of chronic diabetes has affected her kidney functioning. She is on dialysis," an unnamed source at AIIMS told PTI.

Swaraj, who has been a diabetic patient for almost two decades, was admitted to the hospital on 7 November and was to undergo an endocrinological test. Shee is reported to be at AIIMS' cardio-neuro centre under the supervision of Balram Airan, chief of the Cardio Thoracic Centre. She was also hospitalised earlier this year for pneumonia.
