Shah Rukh Khan turned 51 yesterday and brought in his birthday at a bungalow in Alibaug with close friends and family.
While the annual routine entails a meet-the-press session, the actor decided to skip that ritual this year.
A close associate of the star told HuffPost the reason was to steer clear from the yet-to-die Ae Dil Hai Mushkil controversy, as the media would have invariably asked him about his stand on banning Pakistani artistes, especially as one of them features in his next film, Raees.
As for the celebrations, a fancy yacht took all the guests to the Alibaug bungalow where the party began around 6 in the evening.
Here, have a look at SRK's beach house. It's a sprawling property, overlooking the sea, and people commute within the area in electric golf-carts.
Among the guests were Ayan Mukerji and Ranbir Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar, Kajal Anand, Imtiaz Ali, Karan Johar, Shweta Bachchan, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor besides many of his close associates from the industry.
An invitation was extended to Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone but the couple didn't show up owing to their schedule of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati.
Zoya, who's yet to work with Shah Rukh Khan, turned portrait photographer and we can't stop looking at the beautiful results.
Finally, the evening came to an end and the guests were ferried back to Mumbai madness.
Here's a picture Karan Johar posted.
