At a time when movie fans and comic book buffs from all over the world are lauding the latest trailers for Wonder Woman and Justice League featuring strong female characters (with supernatural abilities), Bollywood actor-turned-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has a totally different perspective on the matter.
In a recent interview to Hindustan Times, Rakesh, director of the Krrish franchise, which stars his son Hrithik, said that he does not think that Indian audiences would 'accept' female superheroes.
Rakesh told HT:
"If I have a superhero in my film, then I can have a 'superheroine' [sic]. I don't think I can make a female-based film, as I believe the audience won't accept that."
Recently, Rakesh was caught in the eye of the storm for saying that actress Kangana Ranaut had been "spreading lies" about Hrithik and their alleged relationship.
Meanwhile in the real world, movie buffs all over the world are not only happy that one of DC Comics' most loved characters Wonder Woman is being bought to life on the big screen again, they are also excited about the fact that she is bisexual.
