Recently, reports emerged that Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has lent his support to drought-hit Maharashtra by adopting two villages.
However, the actor's representatives have denied the news. It was reported that Khan had adopted the severely-hit villages of Tal and Koregaon in the Satara district, but the Peepli Live-producer's PR team told Quint that he hasn't 'taken over' any village but is closely working with his NGO, Paani Foundation, to bring relief to over 120 villages in the drought-hit region.
It isn't immediately clear from where the rumour started.
Before this, Akshay Kumar donated a sum of Rs. 50 lakh to the Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyaan, an initiative by the Maharashtra government. Actor Nana Pateka too, has been at the forefront of the issue, distributing cheques to widows of farmers who committed suicide, and mobilising support to send relief in the region.
