NEW DELHI -- Gunmen launched a deadly attack on a university campus with 3,000 students in Pakistan on Wednesday morning.
Explosions and gunfire were heard on the campus of Bacha Khan University in the northwestern part of the country, where Pakistan's security forces are trying to eliminate the gunmen.
A rescue official told Geo News that eight people have been killed, but isn't clear how many of them are civilians and how many are attackers. Fifty people have reportedly been injured.
It isn't clear how many gunmen are inside the campus.
Condemning the attack, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, said, “Those who kill innocent students and civilians have no religion."
The Express Tribune reports that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have claimed responsibility for the attack.
