On Thursday, Gujarat's Health Minister Nitin Patel told the media that excess lead was found in 27 out of 39 tested samples.
Earlier in the day, officials in Uttarakhand said they had detected Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) in tested samples of the noodles.
Meanwhile, the Nepal government has imposed a ban on importing and selling of Maggi noodles for an indefinite period of time, IANS reported.
"Yes, we are putting a ban on importing and selling Maggi in Nepal following the controversy in India," Uttam Kumar Bhattarai, secretary at the ministry of agriculture development, told IANS.
The central government has sought reports from all states over the quality of Maggi noodles, Health Minister JP Nadda said on Thursday.
