KOLKATA — A blast in a local train from Sealdah in West Bengal early today has left several injured, some seriously, according to media reports.

Times of India pegged the unofficial count of those injured to 17 with five of them serious. The TOI report said the injured have been admitted to the RG Kar hospital in Kolkata.

The explosion took place around 3:55 AM between Barrackpore and Titagarh railway stations while the train was on the Sealdah main section, reported the Indian Express.

According to reports, the passengers allegedly got into an altercation with miscreants who hurled the bomb. Police, including RPF, Barrackpore and CID's Bomb Squad are checking the train which has been halted at Barrackpore station, the TOI report said.

The Express report quoted police sources as saying that the blast was a low-intensity one.
