Frooti's animated mango drink advertisement, starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is certainly not very tastefully done. But it is not offensive either, unless you are Raj Kundra.
The ad doesn't seem to have gone down too well with Kundra, actress Shilpa Shetty's husband.
Kundra took to Twitter on Tuesday to vent about Khan and that advertisement.
This Frooti ad is disgusting! Kids copying and singing suck it lick it a. @iamsrk bhai how did u approve this script? Tasteless literally!

His main point of objection has been the lyrics of the advertisement. The ad begins with with the words, "Push-it-a, pull-it-a, hit-it-a, vroom-it-a, move-it-a, shoot-it-a, leave-it-a..." Particularly the line, "Aam suck-it-a lick-it-a" doesn't seem to have gone down too well with Kundra.
Ignorance is dangerous, but knowledge without responsibility is more dangerous.

Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs.

But was it worth outraging over?
While the advertisement itself is pretty harmless, with the lyrics as well as the visuals focussing on the drinker's obsession with mangoes, and the drink's "real mango-like" qualities, Kundra's reaction seems pretty much over-the-top.
Khan, on the other hand, has chosen to stay away from the whole thing.
