Aamir Khan’s latest film, PK, has made Rs 100 crore, with box office collection booming over the past four days. Khan plays an alien stranded on earth in the film.
A slow-starting Friday soon led the way to an explosion over the weekend, and Monday, in spite of being a working day, saw the best results according to IBT. An earlier report showed Saturday’s collection to Rs 30.34 crore, while Sunday earned the film Rs 36.40 crore. The report also said the business of the film sky rocketed on Saturday and Sunday due to positive reviews and strong word of mouth.
Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was quoted in Times of India after a special preview last Tuesday hosted by Aamir Khan: "The film is superb. I have promised Aamir so I won't disclose much about the story. But I would like to say that all of you please go and watch this film as it is completely different. For me it's the best film and best performance of Aamir that I have ever seen," he said also adding that this was a completely out-of-the-box film with a very strong message.
Rajkumar Hirani’s latest is certainly not the fastest film to cross the coveted 100 crore mark, according to entertainment website Bollywood Hungama – Farah Khan’s Happy New Year collected Rs 108.86 crores in three days after its launch. However the onset of Christmas should encourage PK's performance over the next week (click here to check other movies who have crossed the Rs 100 crore mark).
As the 10-day deadline approaches, the question is: Will PK continue its surge?
