The hype, the superheroes and the unlimited praise from critics propelled me to watch no less than the first show of Captain America: Civil War. The critics had slammed Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice which I actually loved, so given that Civil War earned accolades from the snarkiest of reviewers I was pretty excited.

The audience, including me, found plenty to giggle at between the fights and it was all fun, but I can't quite grasp why it's being called the greatest superhero movies of all time. For all the technical prowess with which it is made, Civil War doesn't demand a second viewing, unlike Batman V Superman. Yes, it's a thorough entertainer and essentially a pretty hilarious depiction of muscled friends fighting among themselves, but lacks the darkness and philosophical elements that added depth to Batman V Superman.

Spiderman lights up the movie with his actions and conversations, overshadowing Captain America himself.

This critique apart, all the superheroes in the film are brilliant, especially Spiderman-- a fresh entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). A bit of an underdog, he lights up the movie with his actions and conversations, overshadowing Captain America himself. You are also destined to like Vision's humour and philosophy, Iron Man's witty one-liners, Ant-Man's surprising superpower and Zemo's role in this power-packed superhuman battle. Not to forget Black Panther, the new breakout superhero who showcased his prowess with feline ease. Other characters like Black Widow, Falcon, War Machine, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Sharon Carter, and Crossbones played their part well. Winter Soldier makes the first appearance and steals the limelight before Spiderman shows up.

There are lots of knockout moments in this crisply directed movie and it scores well in the acting area. There are speeches that will give you goosebumps, there are conversations where relationships and bonding are well represented, and there is a hell lot of action for sure. It's a cornucopia for comic-lovers of course, and the tagline -- "Whose side are you on?" -- is sure to cause many a tussle among fans as well depending on their superhero affiliation.
