When a smartphone gets lost, so are we. Not only do our fingers have nothing to do, all those photos, bank transactions, downloads and other personal information are out of our hands and probably in those of some devious villain... It's all too awful to even think about. Fortunately, there are some awesome apps that help you take action should your phone somehow stray away from you.
Depending on which one you use, you can track your phone to its exact location or even wipe your data on demand. Here are five of my favourite android apps that can help you track down you lost phone.
This free Android phone tracking application from Alienman Technologies LLC offers features like passcode protection, stealth mode, notification of changed SIM card or phone number, etc. If you like this application, you can go for its pro version, which offers more security features.
Avast is an antivirus program for PCs and smartphones that also has phone-tracking powers.
It helps you locate your stolen/lost Android phone very easily by tracking the location using GPS.
You can even send SMS commands from another phone to track your smartphone on the go.
This Android app makes it easy to locate your missing or stolen phone by telling you and your friends the exact location of your stolen/lost phone. You can also use their web interface for real-time location of your phone.
This free application is by Google Inc and can be used as default locator for your phone. This Android app helps you locate your missing devices and helps protect your data. You can easily change the screen lock pin or erase phone data using this app. You just have to install it and link it with your Gmail account for the app to work.
With this Android application you can locate your phone by visiting the app website. It also has a special feature for finding friends and getting directions to their location. You have to pay up for this one.
Think my list covers it? If you think I'm missing a kickass app that you've used, drop me a note in the comments section.
