10 Reasons Why Delhi Does Not Have Space For Your Lungs

An Indian child looks for recyclable material at a garbage dumping site on the outskirts of Gauhati, India, Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. The White House is hoping that the surprise deal with China late last year setting ambitious targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions will influence India and others. 1. Because air pollution has not been given a cool hashtag like #MufflerMan or #KiransBluePrint. Maybe we need to trend #WhoCaresTheAirWeBreathe or #MostPollutedCitySoWhat or #ZahriliHawa.

  3. Because clearly we can be a global city... erm what was that again? Sustainable city with 14 times higher than WHO pollution standards. OK, we don't believe in foreign agents, so let's talk about six times higher than Indian standards?

  5. Because air pollution is ONLY important when Obama bhai or a world leader comes to town -- D-U-H #ObamaInDelhi.
  6. 2015-02-09-GIFAP3.png

  7. Because the Cricket World Cup is more important than suffering from asthma #BringBackTheCup > #BringBackMyBreath.
  8. 2015-02-09-GIFAP4.gif

  9. Because a jhadhoo cannot clean the air pollutants, nor can a lotus purify the atmosphere, and the hand cannot pick up particulate matter!
  10. 2015-02-09-GIFAP5.png

  11. Because the AIB Roast did not feature a joke on Alia Bhatt wearing an N95 pollution mask.
  12. 2015-02-09-GIFAP6.gif

  13. Because it's not snazzy enough to walk down the ramp with a mask (yet). Also, they are not available in Sarojini Nagar!
  14. 2015-02-09-GifAP7.gif

  15. Because you don't need to spend money on expensive smokes. Just walk on any road in Delhi, and your lungs will be tortured equally.
  16. 2015-02-09-GIFAP8.gif

  17. Because now we have a new touristy tagline "Delhi - the best toxi(c)ity". Get it, get it?
  18. 2015-02-09-GIFAP9.gif

  19. Because N95 pollution protection masks were not part of the billion day sale on Flipkart.
