Will Priya Dutt Wrest Mumbai North Central Back From Poonam Mahajan?

Congress is fielding Priya Dutt from Mumbai North Central yet again in hopes of wresting the seat back this election.

Dutt, a two-time MP from the constituency, lost to BJP’s Poonam Mahajan in 2014.

Sneha Kale, a transgender activist, and Dr AR Anjaria of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi are also contesting from this seat.

Dutt’s father Sunil Dutt was a Union minister in the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh. Her mother, actress Nargis, was a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Her brother, actor Sanjay Dutt has been campaigning for her in Mumbai.

Mumbai North Central has 17 lakh voters, which include actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.

Dutt, who was reluctant to contest this election, said she decided to contest after a conversation with Congress president Rahul Gandhi, CNBC TV18 reported.
