MP Sharad Tripathi was outraged that his name wasn’t included on the foundation stone for a local road.

A scuffle broke out between BJP MP Sharad Tripathi and party MLA Rakesh Singh on Tuesday during the meeting of the District Planning Committee in Sant Kabir Nagar of Uttar Pradesh.

The two had an argument over the placement of names on a foundation stone of a project, reported ANI. In the video, the two BJP lawmakers are seen arguing for some time as others try to pacify them.

Tripathi was apparently angry that his name was missing from the plaque marking the inauguration of the road in the district’s Mehdawal area, PTI reported.

Then, Tripathi removes one of his shoes and starts thrashing Singh, who angrily heads towards him and tries to hit the MP before the two are separated by a police official.

An NDTV report said the two men were “hurling the foulest of unprintable abuses” and that the incident took place in the presence of journalists.

The argument occurred as Sant Kabir Nagar MP Tripathi was outraged that his name wasn’t included on the foundation stone for a local road, said the report.

The Uttar Pradesh BJP president told ANI that they have taken cognisance of the incident and both the lawmakers have been summoned to Lucknow. Strict disciplinary action will be taken, he added.
