Veteran Actor And Director Vijaya Nirmala Dies, Telugu Film Industry Pays Tribute

Actress and director Vijaya Nirmala died on Thursday at the Continental Hospitals in Hyderabad, her son VK Naresh said.

Nirmala had after suffering a cardiac arrest, Indian Express reported. She was 75.

The Telugu film veteran had starred in over 200 films including Tamil and Malayalam, and also directed over 40 films, Express said.

She entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2002 for being the female director with most number of films. The Andhra Pradesh government had in 2008 awarded her the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award, the highest honour in Telugu cinema.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu paid tribute to Nirmala on Twitter.

Members of the Telugu film industry also condoled her death.
