Uttar Pradesh Woman Shot In Face After She Stopped Dancing At Wedding

The incident happened on 1 December, but came to light after a video of the same went viral.

A woman in Uttar Pradesh who was shot in the face after she stopped dancing at a wedding, according to reports, is in critical condition.

The incident, according to NDTV, took place on 1 December during a performance at the wedding of the village head’s daughter in Tikra village, but came to light after a video of the same went viral.

In the video, the woman can be seen dancing on a stage. A gunshot is heard, as BBC pointed out, after she pauses and she falls down holding her face.

A woman who was dancing alongside her on the stage was quoted as saying by NDTV, “When we were dancing, the music suddenly stopped. The man then fired at us. She was standing next to me, got shot in the jaw. She has been critically injured.”

One of the village head’s family members reportedly shot at the woman, according to IANS.

The police told BBC the suspect is on the run but, “we are confident that we will arrest him soon.”
