Twitter Is Happy Sourav Ganguly Has Officially Taken Over As BCCI President

Ganguly will have to demit office after nine months due to the mandatory ‘Cooling Off’ period.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday officially took over as the 39th president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He is only the second Indian captain to hold the top job in BCCI after Maharajkumar of Vizianagram.

Ganguly will have to demit office after nine months due to the mandatory ‘cooling off’ period as per the provisions of the new BCCI constitution.

Union Minister Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah took over as the secretary of the board. Former BCCI president and current junior finance minster Anurag Thakur’s younger brother Arun Dhumal is treasurer.

Soon after Ganguly officially took over, Twitter users said Indian cricket was now in “safe hands”.
