Sumit Nagal played against Roger Federer in the first round of the US Open on Tuesday and won the first set by 6-4. He, however, lost the match with Federer winning the next three sets 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

Nagal, according to PTI, is only the fourth Indian to win a set in the main draw of a Grand Slam in the last 20 years.

“It was a tough first set for me. He played pretty strong so credit to him. I was missing a lot of balls so I was trying to cut down the unforced errors. Hopefully, it will get better,” Federer was quoted as saying by PTI.

Nagal is going to have a “very solid career,” Federer later said.

Nagal’s performance won him many fans on Twitter:
