Australia’s Steve Smith toppled India skipper Virat Kohli to become number one in the ICC Test rankings for batsmen. Jasprit Bumrah rose to third position among bowlers in the latest rankings released on Tuesday.
Kohli slipped to the number two spot following his first-ball duck in the Jamaica Test, according to PTI. Smith, meanwhile, returned to the top spot following his twin centuries in the first Ashes Test against England and 92 in the second match.

Smith was on the top spot since December 2015 and Kohli took over in August 2018 when the Australian player was serving a ban for his role in the ball-tampering scandal.
Soon after the rankings were released, some Twitter users expressed optimism that Kohli won’t be in the second spot for long, while others hailed Smith as a “legend”.
Meanwhile, Kohli fans warned Smith that he won’t be able to hold that position for long.
