Union minister Ramdas Athawale on Monday evening claimed that the Rs 15 lakh, promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2014 poll campaigns, will come slowly. While campaigning for the 2014 general elections, Modi had promised a crackdown on black money and had said every Indian would get Rs 15 lakh in their bank accounts once the black money was retrieved from abroad.

Athawale claimed people will get Rs 15 lakh each in their bank accounts “slowly” and claimed that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was not giving the money despite being told, according to a report in The Indian Express.

“So the amount can’t be collected. There are some technical issues,” he added

Ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Modi had highlighted the issue of black money and had vowed to bring it back. He had promised that every Indian would get Rs 15 lakh when black money is repatriated from abroad.

Later, BJP president Amit Shah had termed the promise a political ‘jumla’ or election gimmick.

Opposition has repeatedly attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the promise and accused it of betraying the people.
