Pakistan Tests Nuclear-Capable Missile Ghaznavi Amid Tensions Over Kashmir

Pakistan successfully carried out the launch of surface-to-surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi, the country’s army announced on Thursday.

Major General Asif Ghafoor, spokesperson of Pakistan Armed Forces, tweeted a video of the missile launch.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority on Wednesday closed three aviation routes of Karachi airspace till August 31, PTI reported.

The launch of the nuclear-capable missile comes at a time of high tensions between India and Pakistan following the Centre’s move to abrogate Article 370 of the Indian Constitution and remove Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

India has not commented on the missile launch yet.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that Pakistan has no locus standi on Kashmir and that the region has always been part of India.

According to ANI, Singh also said Pakistan had illegally occupied PoK and Gilgit- Baltistan.
