Everything You Need to Know Before Buying Oninaki on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC

Oninaki review details, price, system requirements, demo save transfer, and everything else you need to know about Square Enix’s latest RPG.

Oninaki is the third game from Tokyo RPG Factory, a studio owned by Final Fantasy publisher Square Enix. Much like I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphear were steeped in reverence for the 16-bit SNES era of Japanese role-playing games, Oninaki also pays homage to classic JRPGs while forsaking elements like turn-based combat in favour of a real-time combat system. With Oninaki out on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC this week, here’s everything you need to know.

Oninaki release date

The Oninaki release date is August 22 on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC via Steam.

Oninaki price

The Oninaki price is $49.99. Though Square Enix is running a pre-order discount, bringing it down to $44.99. The India price for the game is Rs. 2,499 on Steam with a pre-order price of Rs. 2,249. On the India PS Store, Oninaki is Rs. 2,699 for pre-orders and Rs. 2,999 after the pre-order period that expires on August 22.

Oninaki frame rate and resolution

According to the game’s Steam page, Oninaki runs at 30fps at 720p with the minimum spec and 30fps at 1080p on the recommended spec. Safe to say, the PS4 version will target 30fps at 1080p while the Switch version would be closer to 30fps at 720p.

Oninaki download size

The Oninaki Nintendo Switch download size is 2.8GB while the Steam page for the game suggests a 5GB download.

There’s no pre-order bonuses for Nintendo Switch orders.

Oninaki physical edition

Outside of Japan and Asia, Oninaki was available on the Square Enix Europe Store for pre-order which sold out quickly due to limited quantities. The Japanese version on Nintendo Switch is playable in English if you fancy importing a copy. We’ll update this story if we discover that it’s the same with the Asian version.

Oninaki demo download size

The demo is available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch and the download sizes are 1.95 GB and 1.4 GB respectively.

Oninaki demo save transfer

Progress from the demo carries over to the full game so you may as well download it on your platform of choice to get a head start on the game before it releases next month.
