Mahendra Singh Dhoni did not figure in the Indian team for the upcoming three-match T20 series against South Africa and several Twitter users (see here and here) wondered why.
The current selection committee head MSK Prasad clarified to India Today that Dhoni expressed his unavailability for the T20 series. “Yes he was unavailable for selection,” he said.
Dhoni, who had taken a two-month sabbatical from cricket, is currently vacationing in the United States, according to PTI.

Meanwhile, speculations about Dhoni’s retirement have only increased with former India captain Sourav Ganguly saying the team must prepare for life without Dhoni as the two-time World Cup winning captain will not play forever.
“Indian cricket will have to get used to this thing that MS (Dhoni) won’t play all the time and won’t play for a longer period of time. But I feel this decision MS has to take,” Ganguly told India Today.
Dhoni fans, however, are not too pleased about the former captain not being a part of the series against South Africa.
