After Mumbai-based Raphael Samuel announced plans to sue his parents for giving birth to him without his consent, many people had questions ranging from ‘what the hell is wrong with him’ to what his parents’ response was. Now one of those questions has been answered.
In a Facebook post, Samuel shared his mother’s response. “I must admire my son’s temerity to want to take his parents to court knowing both of us are lawyers,” she says, according to the post.
The mother further says that if Samuel can come up with a rational explanation as to how they could have sought his consent to be born, she will accept her fault.
Samuel, who also has a Facebook page called Nihilanand, had explained in a video that he wants everyone to realise that they were born without their consent. He also said, “I want them to understand that they don’t owe their parents anything.”
Samuel’s belief is called Anti-natalism, which propounds that it is wrong to bring people into existence.
He had admitted to having a good relationship with his parents. Samuel told The Print, “I love my parents, and we have a great relationship, but they had me for their joy and their pleasure.”
In an interview with Latestly, Samuel said, “My parents are extremely proud of me for my independent thinking and vow to demolish the case in court. We’re good with each other though! No animosity.”
