Meera Sanyal, AAP Member And Former Banker, Dies At 57

Sanyal, the former head of the Royal Bank of Scotland in India, had contested the Lok Sabha elections from an AAP ticket in 2014.

Meera Sanyal, a former banker who joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2014, died on Friday at the age of 57.

AAP announced the news on Twitter.

Sanyal, the former CEO & chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland in India, contested the Lok Sabha elections from an AAP ticket in 2014.

Her book criticising demonetisation, The Big Reverse: How Demonetization Knocked India Out, was published in November 2018.

Manish Sisodia, AAP leader and deputy CM of Delhi, said in his tribute on Twitter that India had “lost a sharp economic brain and a gentle soul”.

Other AAP leaders also condoled Sanyal’s death.
