Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari won from the North East Delhi constituency against Congress’ Sheila Dikshit and AAP’s Dilip Pandey.

He retained the seat comfortably with a margin of over 3.66 lakh votes.

Tiwari, a popular Bhojpuri actor and singer, had defeated AAP’s Anand Kumar in this constituency in 2014 with a margin of over 1.4 lakh votes.

Tiwari, hopeful of yet another win, has already asked the party cadre in North East Delhi to begin preparations for the Assembly polls next year, according to The Hindu.

During his campaigns, Tiwari has highlighted how the Modi wave is even stronger in 2019 than it was in 2014.

Scroll pointed out that Tiwari, who’s from Bihar, has created quite a few controversies in his tenure

He invited the Supreme Court’s wrath for breaking the lock of a house sealed by municipal officers (the top court closed contempt-of-court proceedings in November) and more recently, drew flak for campaigning in military fatigues after the Balakot airstrikes.
