A Karnataka Congress MLA was on Sunday hospitalised after a “brawl” with a party colleague at Bengaluru’s Eagleton Resort, where the party legislators were shifted on Friday, according to reports.

Anand Singh was hospitalised after he was allegedly hit on the head with a bottle by JN Ganesh, sources told The News Minute.

According to The Indian Express, the two reportedly had an argument over Ganesh trying to defect to the BJP.

Congress has, however, denied all reports of a scuffle. Water Resource Minister DK Shivakumar was quoted in the report as saying, “There was no fight, no assault, no liquor bottles; both the MLAs will speak to the media soon.”

DK Suresh of the Congress later said he doesn’t know about the fight. “Anand Singh is admitted in hospital due to chest pain. There are no injuries or anything. His parents are here at the hospital. Other issues are just speculations.”

Responding to reports, the BJP tweeted, “What more proof do we need to tell all is not well within Congress.”

Soon after the Congress Legislature Party meet on Friday, the Congress MLAs were herded together in two buses from the Vidhana Soudha, the state secretariat where the CLP was held, and taken to the Eagleton resort.
