Jawaharlal Nehru University students were lathi-charged on Monday as they marched to the Rashtrapati Bhavan seeking an appointment with the president for his intervention in the hostel fee hike issue.
NDTV reported that the police resorted to lathi charge when the protesting students tried to cross barricades around the Bhikaji Cama Place Metro station in Delhi that had been cordoned off by the police.

Security was beefed up across the city and three metro stations — Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg and Central Secretariat — were shut.
A police official had told PTI earlier in the day that roads leading to JNU had been shut and the police had asked the students to maintain peace.
A video tweeted by ANI showed a sea of police resorting to lathi charge.
A series of photos published on The Indian Express showed the police cracking down on the protest, even tearing their clothes.
The students have been protesting for over month over the hostel fee hike issue. Last month, a “high-level” committee set up by the university had suggested a partial roll back of the fees.
