Interim Budget 2019: Small Farmers to Get Rs 6,000 Yearly Support Under PM Kisan Yojana

Farmers with just two hectares of land will get direct income support of Rs 6,000 per year.

Presenting the Interim Budget 2019, Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday announced the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana to help the small and marginal farmers. He said that under this scheme, farmers who have up to two hectares of land will get direct income support of Rs 6,000 per year.

Goyal also said that the support will be disbursed in equal installments of Rs 2,000 each and it will be funded completely by the government of India.

The scheme was announced amid chants of ‘Jai Kisan’ in the Parliament.

Goyal said that nearly 12 crore farmer families will benefit from this yojana.

The government will allocate Rs 75,000 crore per year for farmer income, he added.

Congress’ Sanjay Jha called the support “peanuts”.
