A 27-year-old veterinarian was raped, strangled and then burnt in Hyderabad on Wednesday night after she was stranded because of a flat tire.
According to a report in The Times of India, the incident took place between Shadnagar and Shamshabad and the police received a complaint when a milkman saw her burning body and called the police
A senior Cyberabad police told the newspaper, “The incident took place when she was returning from Gachilbowli. Till one point she used public transport and from there, she used her parked two-wheeler. Her two-wheeler got deflated and some men came to her offering help.”
The woman is said to have been returning home from her clinic.
The Indian Express reported that the woman had called her sister who had suggested that she leave her scooter at the Tondupally toll plaza and take a cab home, but she was reportedly approached by two men offering help.
The report said that she was ambushed by the men and taken behind a line of trucks, raped and then strangled.
Her family said that she usually parked her scooter at the toll plaza and then took a cab to her clinic.
The sister said that when she had called her, she sounded panicked.
The Hindu reported her family approached the police when they called her again and her phone was switched off. The report said that 10 teams have been formed by the police to look for perpetrators.
No one has been arrested yet.
