Hasan Minhaj Said No Thanks To Times Now, But They Just Can't Let It Go

Times Now will not take no for an answer.
Hasan Minhaj's Netflix show 'Patriot Act'

Hasan Minhaj seems to have made getting trolled on Indian Twitter a favourite past time. Trolls are one thing, but nobody seems to have warned him about Times Now.

Minhaj had been warned about bhakts coming after him after he did an episode on the Indian elections on his Netflix show Patriot Act.

The Indian-American comedian did a follow-up segment on the election results in which he talks about being invited onto Navika Kumar’s show NewsHour on Times Now.

Yikes!

Good call, Hasan. Good call.

In his rejection, Minhaj also made this totally valid observation about Times Now’s panel discussions.

“That show is way too intense. I would get destroyed like King’s Landing,” he said.

And he’s right. Times Now is infamous for inviting guests for debates and panel discussions on the news channel, and then eviscerating them on air, a tradition started by co-founder Arnab Goswami.

☝🏽Never ever ever let your panelists finish a sentence.

So, Minhaj said “NO”, but Times Now heard “maaayybbeee” and sent yet another invite. This time for its not-so-intense show ‘Frankly Speaking’.

And as a token of trust — to assuage Minhaj’s concerns about his eardrums exploding — they sent him a link to a previous episode of the show.

Starring Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.

Jaggi Vasudev, the man who said people who outrage about lynchings “have not seen India”, who once described a Muslim student as Taliban (then apologised), who said depression cannot exist in “a blissful being” and whose Isha Foundation has several cases against it for violation of environment laws.

That Jaggi Vasudev.

🙄

Times Now really knows the art of persuasion.

Can’t wait for Minhaj’s response. Possibly issued from the farthest corner of the earth.

And, Times Now, “hell no” still means “no”.

Update
: Minhaj has responded to Times Now’s latest invite.

Stay sharp, Hasan.
