A Family's Garage Floor Sinks Fifteen Feet, Destroying Two Cars (PHOTO)

How did this happen?

Imagine hearing a strange noise and opening the door to your garage only to find that your cars have sunk into a giant fifteen-foot hole in the concrete floor? Well Reddit user jeckley and his family experienced this nightmare and shared photos of the catastrophe that destroyed both of his parents' automobiles.

While commenters suggest that this was due to a hollow floor and wonder aloud whether the unlucky individuals' auto or homeowners' insurance will have to kick in for the damages, jeckley explained that they had just moved into the home a few weeks ago, and it appears that the accident was due to faulty construction. Yikes!

If you have noticed that your own concrete floor is cracking or sagging over time, make improvements now before you are in a similar situation. Instead of just patching or filling the holes, remove loose debris and prepare the surface properly. For large holes, like poor jeckley's, it is best to consult a professional.
