First Woman President Of UP Bar Council, Darvesh Yadav, Shot Dead In Agra

Darvesh Yadav was reportedly elected the chief of the bar council two days ago and was attending an even in her honour when she was shot.

The first woman president of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, Darvesh Yadav, was shot dead inside a court premises in Agra.

Reports suggest that it was a colleague who shot her and then he shot himself.

ANI reported that Yadav was elected just two days ago.

Yadav had come on her first visit to the Civil Court after her election.

Agra City’s Additional Superintendent of Police Praveen Verma said she was shot by lawyer Manish Sharma, who had been her long-time acquaintance.

After spraying three bullets on her, Sharma also shot himself,” the official told PTI.

“Sharma is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital and is in a critical condition,” Verma said.

The police said the pistol used in the crime was a licensed weapon and the police have taken possession of it.

At the ceremony in her honour, Sharma suddenly got up and opened fire on her, police said. Before anyone could react, he shot himself too.

Yadav’s body has been sent for a post mortem.
