Election Results 2019: Amit Shah Wins From Gandhinagar By Over 5 Lakh Votes

In his first Lok Sabha election, the Bharatiya Janata President was pitted against C J Chavda of Congress.

NEW DELHI—Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah won from the Gandhinagar constituency in Gujarat by a margin of 5.57 lakh votes .

Shah was pitted against C J Chavda of the Congress party.

Shah, who is contesting his first Lok Sabha election, took over the baton for Gandhinagar from BJP Veteran and former deputy Prime Minister L K Advani. He is known to be a confidante of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and first entered parliament by being elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat in August 2017.

His candidature from Gandhinagar, a Lok Sabha constituency he helped manage for Advani, generated some controversy initially as the BJP Patriarch did not signal his approval of Shah’s candidature early on.
