The Uttar Pradesh law student, who went missing for a week from her home in Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, has accused BJP leader and former union minister Chinmayanand of raping her for over a year. She also said she has registered an FIR in Delhi against the BJP leader.

The student of the college where the BJP leader is board member, was found in Rajasthan and brought to Delhi on directions of the Supreme Court.

PTI reported that the woman told the media in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur that she registered a complaint in Delhi because the police in UP had refused to register a complaint.

“The Delhi Police has registered this complaint at Lodhi Road police station and has forwarded it to Shahjahanpur police, which is not registering the rape case,” she said.

She also told the media, “Swami Chinmayanand raped me and even exploited me physically for one year.”

The woman had posted a Facebook video asking for help and had accused a “sant” leader of repeatedly sexually harassing her.

The woman had said in her video, “Modiji please, please meri help kariye aap (Modiji please, please help me).”

While she didn’t name the politician, the details she discloses in the video make it clear who she was referring to. After she went missing, her father alleged on Tuesday that Chinmayanand was behind her harassment.

The woman alleged that Chinmayanand has “ruined” her life and that of many other women, and that he has been threatening to kill her and her family.

This is not the first time the BJP leader has been accused of rape. Another woman, a disciple of Chinmayanand’s ashram, had accused him of abduction and rape.

An SIT has been set up by the Uttar Pradesh government, headed by Inspector General of Police Naveen Arora, to probe the case.

While police remain tightlipped on the probe, the principal of Swami Shukdevanand Post Graduate College, where the woman studied, said the SIT which arrived here Thursday night also visited Divya Dham, the residence of Swami Chinmayanand but could not meet him as he was out of town.

The team also visited the Mukukshu Ashram of the BJP leader and toured the five colleges run by the ashram, Principal Avnish Misra had told PTI yesterday.
