BJP Leaders Are Now Promoting 'NaMo Merchandise' On Twitter

Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BJP leaders have begun a clever campaign.

Anurag Thakur, BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur, wore a hoodie to Parliament on Tuesday which had the words ‘NaMo again’ written on it in bold letters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi retweeted Thakur’s photo saying ‘looking good’.

Thakur had also tweeted a photo saying “I am wearing mine. Where is your hoodie?”

He tagged several other BJP leaders telling them it was their turn to wear a ‘NaMo’ hoodie.

Thakur’s T-shirt is from the clothing line that is being sold on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NaMo app along with other merchandise.

The BJP is known for being social media savvy, but promoting merchandise on Twitter is a first. Prior to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, merchandise promotion Narendra Modi and BJP had flooded the online markets, although they were sold and promoted by private companies. This year, the BJP seems to have taken a leaf out of its followers’ books.

Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thawarchand Gehlot tweeted a photo of himself wearing another version of the hoodie:

An MLC from Bihar, Sanjay Mayukh, also showed off his NaMo merchandise.
