Why 'Bharat' Looks Like All Salman Khan Films Ever

The teaser, like all recent Salman Khan films, pays it respects solely to the man’s larger-than-life persona.

Back with yet another Eid release this year, the teaser for Salman Khan’s ‘Bharat’ released on Friday.

Khan’s character in the film, also named Bharat, is often asked what his surname, caste or religion is.

“But I cannot dilute respect for myself or this country, by adding another name next to this,” he says.

Moments later, you see him don a white jacket, sit astride a motorcycle with the license plate ‘BHARAT’ and ride it through a ring of fire at ‘The Great Russian Circus’.

If that is not respect for this great nation, what is?

The film also stars Katrina Kaif, Tabu, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover and Jackie Shroff, none of whom you will see in this teaser.

The teaser, like all recent Salman Khan films — the Dabangg series, Tiger Zinda Hai, Race 3, Sultan — pays its respects solely to the man’s larger-than-life persona. He is a mine worker, a naval officer, an old man gleefully hitting a punching bag.

This is “the journey of a man and nation together”.

Ahead of Republic Day, watch the trailer if your heart beats for jingoism and bhai:

Bharat is Khan’s third collaboration with director Ali Abbas Zafar after Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
