Anti-CAA Protests In Delhi: Protesters Detained Near Red Fort

Protesters were detained near Red Fort in Delhi on Thursday during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, according to reports. Delhi Police imposed Section 144 near the Red Fort and had denied permission for the march citing law and order issues.

Swaraj India chief Yogendra Yadav was also detained near Red Fort during the protest march.

As many as 14 metro stations — Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Vishwavidyalaya, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh, Munirka, Patel Chowk, Lok Kalyan Marg, Udyog Bhawan, ITO, Pragati Maidan, Khan Market and Central Secretariat — have also been closed in Delhi.

Delhi Police has also denied permission for a protest march from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar.

Protests have been planned in 10 cities against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
