A US-bound flight of Air India from Mumbai made a precautionary landing in London Thursday following a bomb threat, the airline said.

The flight landed at the Stansted airport in London, Air India tweeted.

“AI 191 Mumbai-Newark of June 27 has made a precautionary landing at London’s Stansted airport due to a bomb threat,” the airline said, PTI quoted.

According to NDTV, the airline deleted the tweet within minutes and did not post an update on the situation.

Meanwhile, London’s Stansted Airport said its runway had reopened and was fully operational after the Air India flight’s precautionary landing, Reuters reported.

Britain’s ministry of defence said Typhoon aircraft were deployed at supersonic speed to intercept a civilian plane. “The aircraft was safely escorted to Stansted airport.”

“We are sorry for any disruption caused by the incident and would like to thank you for your patience,” Stansted Airport said on Twitter.
