A woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli, who is reportedly a gangrape survivor, was allegedly set on fire by her perpetrators on Saturday when she refused to reach a compromise in the case.

The woman has complained that the police did not take action and did not arrest the perpetrators even a month-and-a-half after she was gangraped.

Hindustan Times reported that while a complaint had been lodged in the rape case, in a new complaint the woman said that three of her perpetrators landed up in her home on Saturday and tried to pressurise into reaching a compromise.

The report said that when she and her husband refused, they poured petrol on the woman and set her on fire.

While the woman is out of danger, she is said to have received burns on her waist and legs.

Meanwhile the police has alleged that the reports, that she was set on fire by her perpetrators, were baseless.

In a video, Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar, claimed that the woman was heating up milk and her saree caught fire.

Kumar said that her husband’s video recorded statement was with the police.

Kumar also said that due investigation was being carried out in the case.
