1. Modi “went” to vote
All that fanfare to cast a vote would be amusing were it not for its resemblance to a road show. Vote hai ki campaign?
Congress moved EC asking for a campaign ban on Modi for 48-72 hours which prompted the poll panel to ask officials in Gujarat for a report.
Skating between the grey areas in EC’s model code of conduct has been made an Olympic sport by the BJP and Modi this election.
2. A vote for Congress is a vote for ... BJP?
Or so it would seem.
In Kerala, voters in Cherthala, Kovalam and Wayanad complained their vote for Congress was going to the BJP instead.
In South Goa, the EC had to replace an entire set of EVMs in Cuncolim after it was found that the machine was adding votes to BJP’s tally during a mandatory mock poll exercise.
Delhi CM Kejriwal asked, “Are these really faulty or programmed in this fashion?”
3. Voter arrested
Kerala voter Abin Babu was arrested in Thiruvananthapuram over false allegations of EVM glitch. He had filed a written complaint about the VVPAT showing the wrong party, so polling officials carried out a test vote which showed no glitches. He was then booked by the police, but later released on bail, Mathrubhumi reported.
4. Pappu Yadav’s song
Madhepura candidate Pappu Yadav seemed to repose enough faith in the electorate to be able to sing this song.
5. Snake found in an EVM in Kannur
That’s right. A snake in the EVM briefly held up voting in Kerala’s Kannur.
But fear not, Kannur recorded 82% turnout.
It wasn’t just Kannur. The public was out in full force in Kerala as the state saw a record turnout with 76.82% of its 2.61 crore voters turning up to vote.
Oh no, you didn’t, Kerala! 😱
Could we read good things onto this?
Keeping hopes up like...
