Dr. Syed Imran Farooq is the Project Director at The Union South-East Asia office under the Challenge TB Project. Imran, is a medical doctor with post graduate specialization in epidemiology from PHFI. He also has a post graduate diploma in business management from ICFAI. With over 13 years of experience in public health, Imran has worked on polio eradication initiative, TB control and care, health systems and technical assistance. He worked with WHO’s National Polio Surveillance Project in the state of Uttar Pradesh before joining the WHO RNTCP technical support network. Over time Imran became the focal person for WHO technical support for DR TB to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare-India. During his tenure with WHO Country Office-India, he worked on many critical projects like The tribal action plan, PMDT scale up across the country, Mumbai Mission for TB Control, Technical operational guidelines and BDQ CAP guidelines development His previous assignment was with PATH in the capacity of Deputy Director TB/HIV with India Country Programme leading multiple projects like PPIA Mumbai, Challenge TB DR TB Project and PEPFAR TB/HIV Project.
